Third Edition published 2001 by Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments, ISBN 1-85760-142-4. Designed by Staziker Jones.

We have been contributing photographs, taken on commission or from our library, to Cadw guidebooks and other publications for most of the 25 years that Cadw has been in existence. Over the years we have been very happy to work with the publications team under editors David Robinson and Diane M. Williams. Before that we worked for the Welsh Office on various archaeological projects.

On the Trail of Turner in North and South Wales, Peter Humphries

On the Trail of Turner in North and South Wales, Peter Humphries

Third edition published 2008 by Cadw, Welsh Assembly Government, ISBN 978-1-85760-261-6. Designed by Ceri Staziker. J. M. W. Turner’s Kidwelly Castle (Courtesy of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston) graces the cover, inside are our photographs attempting to match his views. Turner's talent and ability to combine details from several different locations and viewpoints produced magnificent paintings which are impossible to rival. The vivid colours of his time, provided by skies laden with volcanic dust and heightened by his internal vision, have been replaced by less dramatic vistas with not one romantic peasant or shipwreck in sight. In spite of modern hazards, the monuments and their settings continue to impress and inspire.
