Turner’s Kidwelly Castle (Courtesy of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston) graces the cover, inside are our photographs attempting to match his views. Turner's talent and ability to combine details from several different locations and viewpoints produced magnificent paintings which are impossible to rival. The vivid colours of his time, provided by skies laden with volcanic dust and heightened by his internal vision, have been replaced by less dramatic vistas with not one romantic peasant or shipwreck in sight. In spite of modern hazards, the monuments and their settings continue to impress and inspire.
